Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she resigned from the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment to pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from the local grocer. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a troubled student throughout school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at the local Catholic elementary school and started high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her freshman year, moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
